Can You Do the Healing Codes Wrong?
By“Is there any way to do The Healing Codes wrong?” my client asked.
“Yes,” I responded. “If you focus on your negative memories while pointing, it seems that makes things worse.”
Once a client said to me, “I’m just having the hardest time motivating myself to do the Codes.” I asked what he was focused on while doing the pointing to the Healing Centers.
He said, “I just hate thinking about those bad memories all the time.”
Well, no wonder! I suggested he focus on something positive—a Truth Focus Statement he resonated with, or a positive “love picture” (you can download suggestions here). Once he made that switch, he was fine and did well with it.
My client told me she tries to empty her mind while doing the Code.
I said I didn’t think that was ideal, either, for this reason: It doesn’t seem to work.
I mean, have you ever tried it? I think it’s very difficult to totally empty the mind. I know many meditation practices set that as the goal. Why work against the way our human brains are wired?
We have thoughts all the time, and it doesn’t seem that we can stop them. What we want to do is direct them, choose them, and focus on thoughts and images that are life-giving. Not only will that help you with the Healing Codes, but it’s a good overall mental discipline to develop.
A related question is what do you do when you’re doing your Healing Code, trying to focus on the positive, and a “negative” memory or thought comes up?
Don’t try to push it down. That’s no more effective than trying to hold a beach ball under water; eventually it will pop up again.
What to do instead: Welcome it. I call it “giving it the nod.” You acknowledge it, and say, “Thanks for showing up. You’re being healed too.” Then gently return to your positive focus. That memory or thought or feeling was ready to be healed, which is why it showed up. The next time you do your Healing Code, check in with it and see if there’s any “charge” to it. If there is, include it in your prayer of Intention and the Code. Keep checking in with it until there is no emotional “charge” attached to it.
And if you never remember it again—that’s a sign it popped up, ready to be healed, and it was healed!
Titrating Your Healing
Speaking of things coming up . . . Sometimes in healing work, a memory comes up that is so big, you just cannot deal with it. If the memory that pops up makes you cringe, and you just can’t stand thinking about it—don’t!
Don’t push it down completely, either, though. Just check in with it every so often, or wait until it comes to mind again. If it does, sort of tiptoe up to it and ask it if it’s ready to be healed. If you sense it is, then address it with a Healing Code.
If you’re still cringing about it, though, you might want to just pray that God would either be healing it without you having to mention it in your Healing Code Prayer of Intention, or to let you know when it is ready to be healed.
This is gentle work. That’s what I love about it. That’s why, by the way, so many highly sensitive people (HSPs) love it. We HSPs need gentle.
And gentle works well for us. This is because, though the “bad experiences” affect us more than less-sensitive people, good environments and effective treatments work better for us than for others. (Researchers call this differential susceptibility.)
So if you’re higher on the sensitivity scale, know what you’re doing will truly help. And allow yourself to truly “take it easy.” Slow and consistent is actually fast, when it comes to healing.

Hello Diane,
I was beginning to wonder why I was resisting doing the Healing Code, I could always find something more urgent to do. I realise now there were too many bad memories coming up. So I’m switching to joyful, life-giving ones.
I’m also following the recommendation in The healing Code to do the truth focus statements, e.g. ‘I want my husband’s post viral syndrome symptoms to heal, believe they can, and I ask God to help me.’ The trouble is that I and so many of
my relatives and friends have problems the list is endless. I can hear God sighing, “Oh, give me a break, Brenda!”
The Healing Code has been a great help in the past. I just think I’ve gone off piste now. Look forward to hearing from you.
Love and light,
Brenda
Brenda,
If I may, I’d like to try to amend the Truth Focus Statement. Instead of “I want,” just picture God’s healing light coming into your husband and doing all the healing that’s necessary. And for others, you might just include them in one Code and picture the same thing. You will find release if you let God do the work, and you just participate in a small way by inviting his light and believing he can do anything. (By the way, I don’t think he ever gets tired of anything! You might, however, lol.)
As far as bad memories go, you don’t need to dwell on any or dredge any up. If something comes up, it’s ready to heal, so you can be glad about that, and just name it in the prayer of intention, ONCE, then focus on the positive when doing the Code (i.e. pointing).
I hope these suggestions make the Healing Codes pleasant to do. That’s how it’s intended.
