Pivotal Memories

Posted by: | Comments (2)

People often ask me what kinds of memories to start with to get the fastest, deepest healing.

I always look for the “fractal memories”–those memories in which the core beliefs/feelings will repeat themselves and branch out to affect your life in all kinds of ways afterward. Heal these, and the ripple effects of healing begin effortlessly  to penetrate into all the areas of life affected by that memory.

In another post I talked about foundational memories. They are one kind of important fractal memory.

Another kind of fractal memory is what I call a pivotal memory. This would be a memory, usually conscious, that changed the course of your life. Something happened and you came to believe something about yourself that forever after influenced your life. Such memories can form your identity–for better or worse.

On the “better side,” pivotal memories can be quite positive. One important pivotal memory that shaped my entire future happened in college, when I fell in love with publishing. I was always a bibliophile and a writer, and the field fascinated me, so I decided I would major in English, but not teach. I would make a career in publishing.

Everyone told me, “It’s practically impossible to break into publishing.” Especially since I didn’t know anyone, even by the time I was a senior in college. Also, this was at a time when people with PhDs in English were driving taxi cabs.

No matter. Publishing was my passion and I would find a way. When my pastor suggested I go out to Illinois to study in the C.S. Lewis Wade Collection for my Honors thesis on Lewis, he added, “There are a lot of Christian publishing houses out there, too.”

I spent my mid-semester break in Wheaton, Illinois, and interviewed at three Christian publishing houses. One of them hired me, for a job they created for me. I still thrill to the fact that I had a job lined up in my chosen field before graduation, and before any of my friends with more sure degrees (like nursing) even had a job offer. That first job, in which I interviewed authors and created radio spots, remains one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever held, and led to other opportunities.

Positive pivotal experiences can lead the way to success in many areas. Use these memories as a focus point when you’re doing a Healing Code for a success issue; it will increase your confidence and shift your energy and focus in a big way.

Negative Pivotal Experiences obviously need to be healed. The lies and perhaps even vows that result from such memories must be changed to truth, or you will remain stuck.

To find a negative pivotal memory, look for an area in

your life where you feel blocked.

I’ll give an example from my own life.

In fifth grade, I had two teachers who seemed to love to pick on students. I was one of them. But my worst memory of these teachers came not from them bullying me, but another student.

One day I witnessed them verbally attacking  a male student in the hallway. (Not sure why I was there, but I was the only other witness, and the teachers seemed oblivious to my presence, so intent were they on their tearing apart that boy’s self-esteem.)

As the teachers lit into this boy, who I now realize was a Highly Sensitive Person, Richard cried. That just made the teachers belittle him more. I saw him stand there, helplessly crying more and more, while the teachers mercilessly ridiculed him.

Up to that point, I, too, was a person who felt deeply and cried easily. In fact, I desperately wanted to cry about what I just saw. I almost burst into tears on the spot, but somehow I stopped myself.

I stopped myself by making a vow, right then and there. I vowed that nobody would ever do something like that to me. If this is what happens when you show your emotions, I would never show my emotions again.

That day, I learned how not to cry. I learned how to turn off my high sensitivity. (Or so I thought.)

The problem was, I turned off all emotions. For a long, long time, I went through life feeling very little. I was what the Yerkoviches (How We Love, Expanded Edition: Discover Your Love Style, Enhance Your Marriage) identify as a classic Avoider in their Love Styles quiz. Having grown up in a home where emotions were pretty much absent, and I’d been ridiculed for being “too sensitive,” it felt right and comfortable to go through life not feeling.

Except . . .

Except that turning off the negative emotions also turned off the positive ones, like joy and tenderness and letting myself be moved by art or music.

Except . . . I am a Highly Sensitive Person, and one of the inborn traits is that we can’t help but feel and be emotionally reactive.

As it does for most people who are Avoiders, the negative energy went into my body. The energy of emotion must go somewhere (e-motion = energy in motion). If you allow yourself to feel it, it will be processed. It won’t get stuck in brain and/or body.

If you don’t . . . you set yourself up for all kinds of problems. Dr. Gabor Mate says, “When you shut down emotion, you’re also affecting your immune system, your nervous system. So the repression of emotions, which is a survival strategy, then becomes a source of physiological illness later on.

That’s what happened to me. I developed an autoimmune disease.

Oddly, even though I went through therapy for a while, no one ever really helped me to understand and process my emotions. Maybe I just wasn’t getting it. It was The Healing Codes that started me on the path to actually healing the heart issues at the source (and also, quelling the physical issues).

It wasn’t easy to heal that Pivotal Memory. I had to identify the lies and the vow. My heart was fearful of being hurt, or humiliated like poor Richard was. (He was never the same after that incident. I noticed.) By understanding both High Sensitivity and Childhood Emotional Neglect, and by identifying the lies and replacing them with truth and images of how to handle emotions in a healthy way, I have found healing and a new way of being.

I was talking with a new client about what to expect with The Healing Codes. We can’t promise that you will heal physical issues. We can’t promise that every relationship will heal, or that your financial woes will go away.

So what can we promise? What can I tell you for sure The Healing Codes or Healing Prayer will do for you if you do them faithfully? And why can I say with confidence that every area of your life can get better?

When you heal the underlying “heart issues”–those “implicit memories” buried in the subconscious that can pop up and sort of superimpose themselves in the present situation–you remove a certain kind of stress that you may not even be aware was influencing you.

When you remove that stress, your health improves because your immune system is not having to deal with the unconscious stress signals that cause your cells to close and potentially move into disease mode.

Did you ever notice that when you’re stressed, you tend to be your worst self? So do other people. When two people are operating out of “worst self” stress mode . . . well, I don’t have to tell you it’s not a pretty picture for the relationship.

And have you ever noticed that when you’re stressed, you’re not your most productive self, either?

So what “healing heart issues” does is help you move from your “worst self” to your “best self” by removing the things that caused your stress.

Everything improves because YOU improve.

That’s why, the more you heal your heart issues, the more every area of your life will  get better.

Health improves. Relationships improve because you’re your best self. (And, because if you release the effects of your Healing Codes to others, it’s amazing how they heal, too, and become more like their best selves.)

Your career and work satisfaction also tends to take off  because you’re at your best.

So that’s what I can promise, if you do Healing Codes or Healing Prayer faithfully. You will be moving ever closer toward your best self, and that will make everything in your life better.

I‘ve often thought that one of the reasons The Healing Codes work so well is that you spend the bulk of your time focusing on something very positive. It’s this meditative aspect that makes them work, I believe, possibly more than the technique itself.

Yes, you identify the negative “heart issue” to be healed (in your prayer of intention at the beginning). But then when you point to the Healing Center positions of a Healing Code, you make the energy coming out of your fingertips positive because of your positive thoughts.

(This may sound “woo-woo” but it is actually a quantum physics thing. The energy of your intention actually makes something happen in the world of matter.)

Knowing this, the question becomes:

“What is the most positive thing I can focus on while

doing a Healing Code?”

There really is no formula. It is whatever positive thing you want to. Whatever works for you. Experiment.

Having said that, I know some people want some specific tips. So . . . Read More→

Occasionally I hear from clients that they don’t feel like doing their Healing Codes . . . or they feel worse when they do them . . . or that they feel nothing after sensing some kind of sensations before. (Some people can feel the energy as tingling, warmth, or some other sensation.)

These experiences are all a very normal part of the healing process.

But if you don’t know that, you might lose interest and stop doing your Healing Codes or inner prayer work.

And that will definitely halt your healing, and perhaps even set you back to where you were.

So what to do about resistance? Read More→

Someone wrote to me recently asking how to do a Healing Code for a friend who had had brain surgery, and was not responsive.

Well, first of all, I believe that as long as a person is alive, the human spirit is able to perceive, even if because of the physical state, the body and mind seem totally unresponsive.

You don’t have to know a person’s heart issue to connect with his or her spirit and send healing.

So I like to pray the Prayer of Intention like this:

“Dear God, I pray you will call ___’s spirit to attention to connect with your Spirit to receive your healing and grace. Please find, open and heal anything that would prevent ____ from full recovery, by filling him with your love, light and life. Please also magnify the effectiveness of this healing to the maximum level for his highest good, at an optimal pace, and restore everything–spirit, soul, mind and body–to your original, intended design. Thank you, Lord, for your ability and willingness to do these things.”

You can amend the above prayer to fit a different situation, of course. If, for instance, you want to do a Code for someone with cancer, you can say, “… find, open and heal anything that is causing or contributing to the cancer, by filling …”

You can do the Code on yourself, perhaps using the Truth Focus Statement, “The life-giving light of the Lord God Almighty shines in all ____’s darkness, to bring complete healing, peace, and right relationships with God, self and others.”

When you’re done with the Code, you can open your hands in a release gesture and say, “I release the full effects of this healing to _____, in love.”

It’s that simple!

It’s wonderful to do Healing Code for others. I do, regularly, especially for my family. (I do Q Codes for others because that’s so much quicker, and allows me to do more for more people–and myself!)

In fact,  it’s been my experience that doing a Healing Code for someone else is actually more powerful than that person doing it for him or herself, because the love that motivates you adds to the power of the Code.

Question about using The Healing Codes:

I have no trouble identifying an emotional issue, however I can’t always link the feeling to a specific memory.  Is it OK to do the Healing Code on the emotional issue alone?”

You do not absolutely need to link the emotion to a specific early memory. Your heart will find and heal the issues that need to be healed.

That said, I will add that if you can find an early memory, it seems to speed healing. The more specific you can be with The Healing Code, the quicker the healing seems to happen. (That’s why custom codes are so powerful; they are specific to your particular issue. ) But you never want  to force anything with The Healing Code; that’s counter-productive.

At the beginning of your Healing Code session, give yourself a moment for any memories to surface. If they don’t, do the Code on the current emotional issue. As you work with The Healing Code and heal, you may find it easier to access the earlier memories.

Your heart may be protecting you from remembering early memories. Many of my clients also find that after working with The Healing Codes for a time, memories that have healed come to the surface. If there’s no emotional charge on that memory, then it usually means it’s healed. One of the wonderful benefits of The Healing Code is you “get your life back” as these healed memories surface.

One client had a very key early memory with several negative elements that needed to be healed. Interestingly, once the negative parts of the memory healed, it became a very positive memory–one she even started using for her “love picture”!

That’s all The Healing Code does, by the way: heals the negative aspects of the pictures and feelings. Yet when that happens, as the book explains, many amazing things can happen.

Q: “Can The Healing Codes help with relationship issues?”

A: The answer is yes–most definitely.

The Healing Codes help with relationship issues, because relationship issues are definitely “heart issues.”

Leslie asked a good question:

“I’ve been using the Healing Codes for a few weeks now. I am not sure about whether or not you stop doing healing codes once you feel better. Do I stop, or do I need to continue with them?

Pawan asked it from a different angle:

“Hello, My name is Pawan and I have already purchased The Healing Code book and have started applying them. I have a question. Healing codes actually heal destructive memories/unhealthy beliefs/negative images, so then why do we need to do them regularly? What I mean is if they actually heal memory or image and if that memory is the real source of the problem and if you already found the actual memory causing the issue then it should actually heal it in one session itself, your immune system may take some time to heal you physical problem once the memory is healed but the very memory should be healed immediately and completely, no? I have no problem doing it regularly but out of the curiosity my logical thinking says that if I have a wrong belief it would either be healed completely or will not heal at all so when we do the healing code regularly does it heal the belief/memory/image partially with every session? But that doesn’t sound logical.

There are two ways to think about The Healing Codes.

One is to think of it like an antibiotic: You take it until you’re better, then you stop.

Or you can consider The Healing Codes to be in the category of things you do on an ongoing basis to promote health: eat healthy foods, drink water, exercise, sleep … these are the kinds of things that both get you healthy and then keep you healthy.

Pawan is thinking that once you heal that unhealthy belief, for instance, that is causing the problem, poof, you’re healed! Like taking an antibiotic to heal an infection, and then you’re done with it.

The problem is, nobody just has ONE issue or unhealthy belief.

Listen, even if you’re only 20 years old, you have thousands of negative images, wrong beliefs and interpretations of what happened to you, and painful memories. If you’re two or three times that age, you have more than double or triple the negative “Heart issues.”

These are not healed in a few days, weeks or months. Certainly specific memories and problems associated with are healed, sometimes very quickly.  But we heal in layers, and you may need to revisit several aspects of some “foundational” memories, and do it again and again.

But the healing does come when you stick at it.

That’s why The Healing Codes belong to the second category. They are more like vitamins than an antibiotic.

The deepest healing comes when you do The Healing Codes on a consistent basis.
When you do, you will find that as one issue heals, your Heart serves up the next issue. And so you move on, healing more and more things at a deeper and deeper level.

And that’s when things really start to take off for you.

That’s why I encourage everyone to think of The Healing Codes as something they do for overall health, like you eat healthy foods or exercise or sleep.

When you do, that’s when you reap the results. If you haven’t read my latest medical report, that documents my growing health over the past 4 years, go here to get that. These latest results came after many months of ongoing, unremitting outward stress. Yet …  all the stresses of my outward life don’t seem to be affecting my health in a big way, much to my (and my doctor’s) surprise.

Do a Healing Code at least twice a day, for at least 6 minutes. Do it longer, and more often, and more specific (as in one of the Healing Code Manual Codes or a custom Healing Code) if your issue is acute in some way.

But as the Nike commercial famously said, “Just do it!”

Someone just posed a good question on the Amazon page for The Healing Code, and I answered it. I thought I’d share it with you as well.

Q: I have been using the Healing Codes for a couple of months. I am feeling much better. I have no idea how long I am supposed to keep doing the Codes 3 times a day. Do you ever stop?

A: The “much better” you have experienced can be “much much better” if you continue to do The Healing Code.

I have never stopped after 9 years.

First of all, I never seem to run out of “heart issues” to address. Besides, that, I just enjoy doing the Healing Codes. And I sure appreciate the results! The healing I’ve had in all areas of my life from doing Healing Codes at least twice a day for 9 years now is phenomenal. Physically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, financially–every area of my life has improved. (For the medical report tracking my progress in 2012,2014, and 2016, go here.)

When the heart issues are out of the way, I am open to more of God, more of life, I’m finding. Life is just … fuller.

I think of The Healing Codes as more like brushing my teeth, or taking my daily walk: It’s something I do to keep healthy. As opposed to, say, an antibiotic you take to address an infection.

If you run out of “heart issues” to address, you can use The Healing Code to instill more of the positive in your life: more love, more joy, more kindness, etc. Then if something negative pops up, you address the negative. When that goes down to 0 or 1, you go back to instilling the positive.

Hope this helps! There’s lots more at Healing Codes Coaching and this Healing Heart Issues website.

Prayer and The Healing Codes

Posted by: | Comments (2)

People sometimes ask me, “Do I have to believe in God to benefit from The Healing Codes?

Or, “How does prayer relate to The Healing Codes?

My answer to the first question: No, you don’t have to believe in God to benefit from The Healing Codes. The Healing Codes work (as far as we can tell), by neutralizing the negative frequency (stress) of the unhealed negative images and wrong beliefs stored in the information energy pattern in the cells (cellular memory). At least, that’s my theory of how it works. All we know from the results is that it removes stress from the autonomic nervous system so that the body can heal itself. (Go here if you’d like to see results from my own Heart Rate Variability tests.)

This is what The Healing Codes does for anyone, regardless of beliefs.

Having said that, however,
