Miracles in the Midst
Posted by: | CommentsI wrote recently about the mantra to get us through these turbulent times (“Just because things aren’t the same, doesn’t mean they can’t still be good”).
Well, it is proving true, as I continue to look for the signs of God at work, bringing good out of things that in themselves are not good.
Amid the roller-coaster I’m still riding, I am seeing some downright miracles.
One huge miracle comes from a client I’ll call LH, who gave me permission to share her story.
LH’s daughter was estranged for many years, for reasons LH could never fathom. Her daughter would not allow LH to see her grandchildren, which was heart-wrenching for LH because she had for several years practically raised one grandson and was especially close to that one. Her daughter suddenly cut her off from all the grandchildren and would not even allow LH to speak to them.
LH was a member of my Healing Hearts Circle group coaching program. As we worked on her heart issues surrounding this, I always had the sense that her Healing Codes were meant for the whole family. LH’s own memory would usually heal very quickly, in a matter of days, but I kept telling her to continue to do her codes and release them to the family, especially her daughter. It felt very clear to me that she and her daughter were strongly tied energetically, that the daughter had been absorbing a lot of LH’s pain and compounding her own, and that targeting LH’s issues and releasing her code to her family would be the best way to heal them all, including LH.
Well, the daughter miraculously turned around and responded to my client sending her a gift. Interestingly, this happened after an amazing Immanuel Prayer time with my client, in which she was shown a beautiful vision of her family that she clung to as she continued to do Healing Codes for herself and her family. God had given her the vision that he himself was working to bring about. And it only took a few short weeks!
There was a very stubborn and seemingly key generational memory involved with this family that I tested was healed right before the miraculous turnaround. LH could actually sense it was healed: “I seem to be able to feel its release or, perhaps, it’d be better said to say I feel its absence. It had a heaviness, a dirtiness, as well as a darkness to it. I feel ‘clean’ now with it gone.”
On Mother’s Day, the Immanuel Prayer vision of her family sitting around the dinner table, talking and laughing and not wanting to leave, actually came true. She spent three and a half hours with her daughter and grandchildren, and the mother-daughter bond is there like it hasn’t been for decades. “I haven’t seen this version of my daughter in 33 years,” LH says. And when she visited with her son, “he didn’t want us to leave. Just like in the Immanuel Prayer vision.”

This is an amazing miracle, God doing it through these marvelous tools, Healing Codes and Immanuel Approach.
The founder of Immanuel Approach, Dr. Karl Lehman, said in a recent email, “People ask me sometimes, ‘Why do we need to even do Immanuel Approach facilitating? Why can’t we just pray for people and have God heal them?’” Dr. Karl’s answer was that God seems to prefer that we co-labor with him in this work of healing.
I too had often gotten that same impression every time I would ask God, “Why do we need The Healing Codes or Immanuel Approach, or tools like the Halo or c.Balance?” God really does seem to like to be involved with us, and he seems to like to use various tools. Perhaps it’s because this God is a relational God, above all else. The other way—our just asking God to do thus and such, without our involvement—can easily cut out the relational part. God does not want to end up being a big Vending Machine in the Sky.
That’s not to say he doesn’t want us to ask. But we ask as a child asks a Father. And as a good Father who wants to foster growth in his children, he comes alongside and trains us. He asks for our involvement. I think he enjoys it more that way. I know it’s a lot more satisfying to have an actual relationship with a living God, rather than having to figure out some kind of formula for getting things to happen the way we want them to.
That’s the way I see it, anyway.
Besides LH’s miracle, I’m seeing miracles in my own life. Miracles of personal healing, provision, answers to prayers, “next steps” made clear.
I think of miracles as signs that point to the fact that there is a good God working behind the scenes. They are things that we could not ourselves make happen, though we may have a part to play.
I saw this video the other day and I thought, “Is this why God has permitted the COVID-19 pandemic?” I don’t pretend to know. But to me it highlights that God is still at work, bringing good out of evil.
That’s his job description for himself these days: “Behold, I am making all things new” (Revelation 21: 5).

Gifts from My Mentors
Posted by: | CommentsFrom Thanksgiving to Christmas, I like to acknowledge the people who have enriched my life during the past year.
This includes, of course, my personal friends and colleagues. But you don’t know them. You can know and benefit from some of my “virtual mentors,” and those are the ones I want to tell you about.
As I reflected on those whose work has enriched either my spirit, soul, mind or body through sharing their expertise, several people came to mind.
Spirit. The most influential–and healing–approach I have ever come across is the Immanuel Approach, developed by Dr. Karl Lehman, a psychiatrist and the author of Outsmarting Yourself and The Immanuel Approach (which we Immanuel Prayer ministers, and he, refer to as “the big lion book” because it’s exhaustive at 759 pages!). From Outsmarting Yourself, I learned about “implicit memory” and how we get triggered, and how to calm body and mind. Dr. Karl Lehman’s work is all about how to let God come in and be with you in the pain, and thus heal it.
I was trained by Margaret Webb and Jessie Handy from Alive and Well in Immanuel Prayer, and continued with training from Dr. Karl Lehman through his Advanced Training seminar and monthly meetings in which local prayer ministers gather to watch and discuss a video of Dr. Lehman facilitating someone in Immanuel Approach. I also meet every other week with other prayer ministers to give and receive Immanuel Prayer. Read More→
